Keane to join Celtic permanently?

Ireland striker Robbie Keane could join Celtic permanently at the end of the season if Hoops’ boss Tony Mowbray has his way.

The 29-year-old joined the Glasgow side in January on loan from Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the season and has scored five goals in seven appearances.

'Getting him [Keane] to extend his stay isn't something that has crossed my mind, but we'll wait and see - that's not to say no,' Mowbray told the Daily Mail.

'I don't know what Robbie's thoughts are on his football career. He's a young guy still, he's contracted to Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League. I don't know what he thinks about his future.

'In the short term, he's here until the end of the season and hopefully he's got a few more days when he makes the difference.'

Keane moved to the Scottish Premier League in search of first-team after finding himself frozen out at White Hart Lane. However, it is not clear if the Republic of Ireland captain would be willing to swap the Premier League for the SPL on a permanent basis.
