Keane calls FIFA vice-president 'a clown'
Sunderland boss Roy Keane has called FIFA vice-president Jack Warner 'a clown' following a dispute involving Dwight Yorke. In a letter leaked to the press, Warner charged the former Manchester United legend with 'insensitivity and disrespect' after Sunderland withdrew Yorke from Trinidad and Tobago's game with the United States.
Keane, not known for pulling his verbal punches, gave a frank assessment of the FIFA vice-president: 'He is writing these letters and it is always under the FIFA heading just to impress everybody. If he is vice-president of FIFA, then God help us. He has not written me a letter about Kenwyne Jones, who got injured playing in a friendly match.'
Sunderland striker Jones was injured in Trinidad and Tobago's friendly with England back in June and looks set to miss most of the season, while Dwight Yorke signed a one year extension on his contract at Sunderland which stated that the former Villa and Manchester United striker will only play for his country if it doesn't get in the way of his club commitments.
