Joleon Lescott finally joins Manchester City for £22m
Joleon Lescott has finally completed his move from Everton to Manchester City in a deal worth £22m. The 27-year-old agreed personal terms and passed a medical at Eastlands on Monday before putting pen to paper on a contract which see him earn £94,000 a week.
Lescott is set to be unveiled as a City player later this afternoon alongside former Arsenal and Barcelona full-back Sylvinho who joined on a Bosman over the weekend. The former Wolves centre-back looks set to make his debut against Portsmouth on Saturday.
The England defender told City's website of his delight at joining the club: "I'm over the moon to get the move completed, and I'm looking forward to training with the lads as I've not trained for a few days."
"I know some of the lads already – I'm close friends with Shaun [Wright-Phillips]; we've played against each other since we were 16 or 17. The way this club is moving on, I'm really looking forward to being a part of that."
Lescott's arrival could see club captain Richard Dunne leave Eastlands with Aston Villa reported to have made a £6m bid for the Irish defender.
