Joey Barton and Yossi Benayoun have exchanged views on Twitter over the Gaza crisis where over 800 Palestinians and 32 Israeli soldiers have been killed in just under 3 weeks of violence. Barton posted a few tweets about his feelings on the happenings between Isreal and Palestine beofore Benayoun branded him "stupid".

Barton is in his element arguing points on social media but this spat kicked off in an innocent enough way when he tweeted "The attack on the school in Beit Hanoun is deplorable. #StopKillingChildrenInGaza". He then went on to further criticise Israel's actions saying "If this was anybody else but Israel the West would intervene. It cannot continue. Innocent children being slaughtered. This must stop."

Barton also tweeted an image of 4 children with the message "This is not war. These are not combatants. They are just innocent children. This is ethnic cleansing." This is the point where Benayoun, an Israeli, seemed to have enough of his thoughts on the matter and tweeted "@Joey7Barton mate things can never changed you have been stupid and you will stay stupid all your life..embarrassing".

Barton lashed back at the personal nature of Benayoun's tweet saying "Firstly, you cannot call somebody stupid with such bad grammar. Secondly, you cannot and should not kill innocent children. Thirdly, you cannot remove people from their land because a fictional book from thousands of years ago tells you can.Last but not least, I hope you and your family are safe and well and remain so through this terrible time. xx"

Barton is no stranger to trouble and his checkered past is as checkered as it gets. He often finds himself getting into heated debates on Twitter whenever he shares his beliefs and standpoints. This flurry of tweets seems to have improved his popularity, temporarily at least, as many twitter users found themselves agreeing with his sentiments.
