Jermain Defoe set to rejoin Spurs for £15m

Jermain Defoe looks set to rejoin Spurs from Portsmouth less than a year after leaving White Hart Lane. The two clubs are reported to have agreed a fee of £15m and the England striker will be presented to Tottenham fans tonight ahead of the London club's Carling Cup semi-final game with Burnley.

It is the third time that Harry Redknapp has signed Defoe having brought the striker to West Ham from Charlton and then to Pompey last year. The cash strapped club paid £7.5m for the 26-year-old last January, but it seems that they couldn't resist the opportunity to double their money with Spurs' offer.

Redknapp told reporters that he wouldn't have sold Defoe back to Spurs if he was still in charge at Portsmouth, but he was delighted to be reunited with the player. In other news, former Juventus midfielder Stephen Appiah could also join Tottenham on a short term contract after spending the last week on trial at the club.
