It's all about the money

Rafa Benitez has been moaning again. Yesterday he was complaining about Manchester City's keeerazy spending, and today the tiresome buffoon is having a go at Gareth Barry for not going to Liverpool and instead choosing moneybags City. The sheer gall of it, turning down the world famous Liverpool FC eh?

Anyway, Benitez has claimed that Barry has moved there only for the money, and of course has nothing to do with both huge amounts of money and the chance to be a lynchpin midfielder and not made to play in goal when his stubborn gaffer decides to keep it tight at home to Stoke.

‘Maybe it's just me but in this market, the top level, I don't think money is the most important thing,’ he said. ‘At this level everyone earns big money. The question is do you make the right decisions and do what is best for your career?’ Money of course, being generally not good for someone’s career, right?

‘If it's just for money sometimes you will make mistakes and I've been surprised by some decisions this summer – like Barry. I won't say too much but it was clearly 100% for money. The most important thing for me, though, is the passion of the players.’ Of course it is.
