Is Cristiano Ronaldo better than George Best?

So it's official, Cristiano Ronaldo is better than George Best. Or is he? Last night C-Ron bagged two first-half goals against Megson FC, surpassing the previous record of 32 goals for a Utd winger in a single season set by George Best in 1967-1968.
Ronaldo has beaten Best's record, but does that really mean he's a better player than the Belfast legend? Undoubtedly the Portuguese winger is having the season of his life and is scoring for fun but but using the same logic Kevin Philips is a better player than Batistuta. The Argentinian never managed more than 26 goals in a season while Kev netted 30 goals for Sunderland in the 1999-2000 season. Go figure.

Surely the importance of the goals scored has to come into the equation at some point. Best's goal in the 1968 European Cup final is more important than any that Ronaldo has scored in his Utd career to date.

Also who can forget Best's goal for the San Jose earthquakes described by the American soccerball commentator as "the greatest soccer goal I've ever seen". Enough said.
