Irish Open golf results

The Irish open golf results saw Simon Dyson win his first title in two years finishing with an impressive card 15 under par. All eyes were on the Irish players in Rory Mcilroy and the Open Champion Darren Clarke, but it wasn't to be for the two Irishmen who couldn't compete with Simon Dyson's terrific and surprising performance.

The Yorkshire-man secured victory in Killarney by one shot, denying second placed Richard Green the top position. Dyson carded a less than spectacular round of 70 on the first day, but soon upped his game in the following days with rounds of 65, 67 and 67 which the other competitors simply couldn't match.

US Open champion Rory Mcilroy had to settle for a disappointing 34th place whilst man of the moment Darren Clarke was even further off the pace, having failed to surpass the cut.

The win for Dyson ensured that he moved into the world's top 50 players and the Irish Open Champion will be hoping to carry momentum from Ireland through to his upcoming tournaments in America. Gaining a welcome £210,000 for winning, Dyson was understandably ecstatic to be crowned champion and was quoted as saying that it was one of the best rounds of golf he had ever played. Manager Chubby Chandler must be pinching himself after the success his players have recently secured, with his players winning 4 of the last 5 majors in Rory Mcilroy, louis Oosthuizen, Charles Schwartzel and most recently, Darren Clarke. Now Chubby has further success after Dyson winning the Irish Open, adding to the list of Chandlers success stories over the last few years.

Attention now turns to the final major of the year, the 2011 PGA Championship which starts August 8th and finishes on the 14th, will Chubby Chandlers men do it again? Or perhaps Tiger Woods may mark his comeback with what would be a terrific win, all will be revealed soon enough.
