IPL 7: Virender Sehwag and Kevin Pietersen dropped by Delhi Daredevils
England’s struggle in the longest form of the game has been turning British cricket fans away from test cricket this winter and the upcoming one day international series between England and Australia doesn’t promise much more for England fans that the Ashes but the best Twenty-20 league in the world is coming back for a 7th edition soon so there should be some entertaining cricket on its way.
Last season Sehwag didn’t produce the sort of performances that light up the stadiums and win T20 matches for his side so we’re not too surprised that he’s on the market. Delhi only won 3 times last season although not all of the blame can be put on Sehwag who continues to be low on confidence and low on runs. His latest knocks in domestic cricket haven’t given any cause for celebration either as he’s only managed a half-century against Vibarbha in the current Ranji season.
Aside from Delhi, all of the other franchises are retaining players for the 2014 season. Perhaps Delhi Daredevils want a new start under new coach Gary Kirsten or maybe they want to have the maximum allocation of money available to them when the IPL 7 auction begins. England’s Kevin Pietersen is another player looking for a new franchise to play for after Dehli’s decision. Player making themselves available for the 7th edition of the Indian Premier League have the next 2 weeks to complete the necessary paperwork, and we’re expecting Pietersen to be among the names offered at the player auction.
