Italian league leaders Inter Milan are set to make a bid for Newcastle striker Michael Owen according to a report in the Daily Mail. The Serie A side, now managed by former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, are looking to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window.
Didier Drogba is believed to be Mourinho's number one target, but reports in the Italian press suggest that the Ivory Coast international will move to Milan in the summer so the Nerazzurri will try complete a move for Owen in the next few weeks.
Honduras striker David Suazo could be used as a makeweight in any deal. While on paper the move would be a good one for Owen and could ironically lead to an international recall, it seems somewhat unlikely that Inter would be willing to splash their cash on such an injury prone player.
