Huddlestone escapes ban over alleged stamp

Spurs midfielder Tom Huddlestone has escaped an FA charge after appearing to stamp on Bolton’s John Elmander.

The 23-year-old England international clashed with the Swedish striker during Spurs’ 4-2 defeat to Bolton at the Reebok Stadium on Saturday.

Television pictures appear to show Huddlestone’s left foot stamping on Elmander’s chest.

However, an FA spokesman made it clear that midfielder won't be punished for the incident: 'We can confirm there will be no action taken against Tom Huddlestone.'

The FA confirmed that match referee Chris Hoy didn’t see the alleged stamp. As a result the case can’t be examined retrospectively.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp told reporters today that he still hadn’t seen the incident: ‘I'm going to say something that you probably don't even believe: I never even saw it - and I still haven't seen it.’

‘I know there are a few managers that say they didn't see what happened, and I'm not becoming one of them but I never saw what happened.’

Huddlestone avoided disciplinary action from UEFA earlier this season after appearing to elbow an opponent during Spurs’ Champions League victory over FC Twente.
