The British and Irish Lions were dealt a blow ahead of the crucial second Test against South Africa in Pretoria after second-row Nathan Hines was handed a one-week ban for a dangerous tackle during last night's 13-13 draw with the Emerging Springboks.
The Scotland lock had been tipped to at least be on the bench for Saturday's game but will now be unavailable for selection. The tackle on Wilhelm Steenkamp wasn't spotted by the match officials last night but the Scotland player was singled out by citing commissioner Steve Hinds following the game.
The judicial officer at the commission, Alan Hudson from Canada, ruled that Hines had breached law 10.4 and handed the Australian born player a one-week ban. However, the Scotland lock will be eligible for the third Test in two-weeks time.
