Heavy Oxford streak clear in Boat Race
For thousands of otherwise apparently sane people, Boat Race weekend is the highlight of the London sporting calendar. Oxford and Cambridge Universities decamp to London, sit in boats, and then destroy themselves for four and a quarter miles for our entertainment.
This year’s race was hotly anticipated, with Oxford the favourites for the first time in ten years, and for the neutrals (read: uninterested) there was a pretty good chance of one of the boats sinking in heavy weather.
Sadly that didn’t happen: Cambridge lost as expected and there were tears, hugging and all the usual hoo-hah. Next weekend off and then it’s time for the Marathon…
