Guus Hidink could take Chelsea job

As Carlo Ancelotti gets shown the door at Chelsea, it appears that they’re already lining up his replacement: the man who replaced their last dead duck coach – Guus Hiddink.

The Blues board wants to bring back the Dutchman, who won the FA Cup with the club in 2009, but the earliest he would be available would be October, which is when he current contact with Turkey ends. That would put Chelsea in a tricky situation, as they would have to pick an interim manager and risk being a long way back in the title race when the Dutchman arrives.

There have also been reports that Hiddink doesn’t want to come back into full-time club management, as he is 64 years old and wants an easier schedule. However his agent Cees van Nieuwenhuizen has said that isn’t true, and would consider taking the coach’s job at Stamford Bridge.

‘I don't know that you can say that,' he said. 'He is focusing on his job and he likes what he is doing. He said also in his column on Saturday in De Telegraaf, the Dutch newspaper, that as long as he is in the race for the European Championship with Turkey, he would continue to focus on that. Once that is finished, he will start thinking about his future.’
