Government gives go-ahead for Olympic park
The Government approved planning permission for the Olympic Park in East London on Monday. The 500-acre site will be home to the London 2012 stadium, an aquatics centre, velodrome, three sports arenas, a hockey centre, media facilities and the Olympic Village, housing 17,800 athletes and officials.
The plans are, without doubt, impressive and the Olympic Park looks set to be a stunning centre piece for London 2012.
The search is now on for a builder, apparently, after the original contractors – Dave Smith & Sons – had to pull out after realising they already had three weeks roofing work booked in for early 2012.
