It looks as though Cristiano Ronaldo is finally off to play for the club he supported as a boy. Manchester United have accepted a stonking £80million bid from the Spanish club, which would make the Portuguese the world's most expensive footballer ever, as well as being less than 25% of the interest they've paid on the Glazer's debt since they bought the club. Nice.

Ronaldo should be seeing lots of lovely lolly as well; his contract is worth around £180,000 a week, before any add-ons have been factored in. Credit crunch? What credit crunch eh?

'Real Madrid confirm they have made an offer to Manchester United for the acquisition of the rights of the player Cristiano Ronaldo,' said a dry club press release. 'The club hope to reach an agreement with the player in the next few days.'
