Gomes' howler hands Fulham victory over Spurs
Harry Redknapps' good luck finally ran out yesterday as Spurs lost 2-1 to Fulham following a terrible howler from goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes.
The Brazilian was signed in the Summer from PSV Eindhoven to replace the error prone Paul Robinson, but the hapless Gomes appears to be carrying out a one man tribute to the former England No 1. When Fulham's Simon Davies launched a speculative cross from the left the Spurs keeper somehow managed to chest the ball into his own net.
At 1-0 down, Tottenham began playing as if Ramos was still in charge. But all credit to Fulham who played well, with Andy Johnson and Bobby Zamora full of purpose and energy throughout. Redknapp said he will stick with the under fire Gomes, but there are already rumours of bids for David James and Shay Given come the January transfer window.
