Gerrard set to miss Champions League tie with Real

Steven Gerrard looks set to miss the first leg of Liverpool's Champions League tie with Real Madrid on 25 February. The Liverpool captain limped out of his side's FA Cup defeat to Everton on Wednesday with a torn hamstring.

The news puts a serious dent in Liverpool's title chances as Rafa Benitez will have to plan for the league games against Portsmouth and Manchester City without his talismanic captain. Gerrard has been the Reds' get of jail card on so many occasions this season coming up with vital goals.

With Robbie Keane returning to Spurs earlier this week and Fernando Torres ongoing hamstring problems, Gerrard's injury will put extra pressure on Dirk Kuyt, Ryan Babel and David Ngog to get amongst the goals.
