Gerrard: Robbie Keane will leave Anfield in January
Ireland striker Robbie Keane will leave Anfield in January, less than six months since joining the Reds for £20.3m, according to Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.
Keane has struggled to break into the Liverpool first team since joining from Spurs with Rafa Benitez leaving him on the bench for the last two Premier League matches. The former Inter Milan and Leeds forward has vowed to stay on Merseyside and fight for his place, but Gerrard's indiscretion would suggest he won't be given the chance.
It was BBC pundit and former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson who revealed the news on Irish radio. Lawro told Today FM that: "I had a drink with Steven Gerrard at a function on Saturday night, and we were talking about Robbie Keane. He was saying to me that they share the same agent and he thinks something is going to happen with Robbie Keane in January. He thinks he's going to be moved on."
