As the bad news gets worse from Sri Lanka – we’re getting hammered in the cricket – some good news deserves a mention.
Swept away by the cataclysmic tsunami of Boxing Day, 2004, the beautiful Test ground at Galle in Sri Lankan could have become yet another tragic victim. Three years on, though, the ground is rebuilt and cricket is once again being played there.
Actually, only the Sri Lankans are playing there at the moment. We’ve decided not to turn up and are getting well and truly stuffed.
Congratulations to everyone involved in getting the old girl back in shape. As one of cricket’s most beautiful settings, Galle deserved a second chance.
Let’s hope England get one. Come on the boys!
