Fulham reject Arsenal's second Schwarzer bid

Fulham have turned down Arsenal’s second bid for Australia goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer after the Gunners failed to improve on the £2m offer made in May.

The 37-year-old has lodged a transfer request and is reported to be keen to join Arsenal, however, new Fulham manager Mark Hughes doesn’t want to sell the player who has two years left on his contract.

Arsene Wenger wants to replace the error-prone Manuel Almunia and Schwarzer appears to be the first player on his shopping list. However, if the deal falls through Arsenal are said to be sniffing around Ajax's Maarten Stekelenburg and Manchester City’s Shay Given.
