Track down a Dutch football shirt

The style and mastery of the Dutch players of the 1970s might not quite be matched by their counterparts in the present, but there is still something magical about a Dutch football shirt. We went shopping online.

For the Dutch national team, Subside Sports (www.subsidesports.com) has the familiar orange shirt available from numerous seasons past and present. You can find replicas of 80s and 90s teams, as well as more recent shirts. Prices vary, but for a 2010-11 season shirt in adult sizes, start at £44.99.

For that classic 1974 look, the Old Fashioned Football Shirt Company (toffs.com) has a Johann Cruyff shirt in orange with the v-neck and black trim, as stylish as the player himself. It might not help you master the Cruyff turn but at least you will look like a fan of Total Football, especially if you add Cruyff's trademark number 14 to the back. These are priced at £19.99.

This is also the place to look for a classic 1970s Ajax Amsterdam shirt in plain white with the broad red vertical stripe. These were the colours that dominated European football at the start of the 1970, and still look very cool.

If you want to track down a specific shirt from past seasons, or just don't want to pay the full price for your football shirt, try ebay (ebay.co.uk). There are numerous new and used shirts available, with retro 1960s and 1970s Dutch national team shirts available at £9.99 and £10.99. In most cases you don't even have to enter an auction, but can buy the item there and then.
