Ferguson: United want to keep Tevez at Old Trafford
Sir Alex Feguson has insisted that he wants to keep Carlos Tevez at Manchester United despite growing speculation that the Argentina striker is heading for the Old Trafford exit.
"I think he genuinely wants to stay here and that is something we are trying to work towards," Ferguson said. "I have told him that repeatedly. There is not much more I can do."
Fergie, however, was none too impressed with Tevez's comments during a recent interview with Radio Del Plata back in Argentina in which he complained about being left out of big games this season.
"He's played more minutes than Rooney and Berbatov this season," Ferguson told reporters. But while Tevez has played more than his striking rivals Rooney and Berbatov thanks to his involvement in the Carling Cup, the Argentina striker has seen little action in the big Premier League games and the Champions league.
Ferguson, however, admitted that United may find it difficult to keep Tevez at Old Trafford after his current loan deal expires at the end of the season. If Carlos does leave it will heap even further pressure onto the shoulders of Dimitar Berbatov who is yet to gain the approval of the Manchester United faithful.
