Ferguson: 'Tevez should have seen red for Brown tackle'

Sir Alex Ferguson has further stoked the flames ahead of next Wednesday's Carling Cup semi-final second leg between Manchester City and Manchester United claiming that Carlos Tevez should have been sent off during the first leg last Tuesday.

The Argentina striker scored twice to give City a 2-1 first leg advantage however Ferguson told reporters yesterday that the former United player should have been given a straight red card for a challenge on Wes Brown in the first half.

'Tevez should have been sent off really,' Sir Alex said. 'Have you seen the tackle? He went over the top of the ball. He didn't even get booked.'

Fergie's outburst comes in the wake of the much publicized sideline spat between Tevez and Gary Neville. The Argentina international directed his goal celebration in the direction of Neville after the United defender had backed his manager in the press for not signing the striker.

Neville reacted by giving Tevez the finger and the former West Ham player dubbed the United captain a 'boot licker' in an interview on Argentinian radio. Wednesday's game is not to be missed.
