Ferguson: Madrid move would be worst thing for Ronaldo
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has said that leaving the Premier League champions and joining Real Madrid would be the "worst thing" Cristiano Ronaldo could do for his career. The Portugal winger has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu ever since United lifted the Champions League trophy back in May.
Speaking on United's tour of South Africa, the Scot told reporters that there was no reason for Ronaldo to leave a club as important as United. Ferguson also underlined the fact that C-Ron signed a new five-year contract with the Manchester club in 2007.
According to The Guardian, Ronaldo's refusal to end the mounting speculation over a possible transfer to Real Madrid has split Manchester United supporters down the middle with large sections of the fanbase siding with Ferguson. But with the transfer window due to close in four week's time it looks as if the Ronaldo transfer story will rumble on until August 31.
