Ferguson looks set to lose Queiroz to Portugal
Sir Alex Ferguson looks set to lose Carlos Queiroz to Portugal after the Manchester United No2 accepted a four year deal to take over the job as national team coach of his home country. The move would come as a big blow to Manchester United in the build up to the 2008/2009 season.
Queiroz looks set to take over from Luis Felipe Scolari in a four year deal worth £1.1m per year. It will be the former Real Madrid manager’s second time in charge of Portugal after he coached the national team between 1991 and 1993.
According to the Guardian the deal is all but done with Ferguson already lining up Queiroz's replacement. The departure of United's No2 will also increase the mounting speculation over Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at United, with the Portuguese winger having previously described Queiroz as being ‘like a father’.
