Sir Alex Ferguson can’t go on indefinitely – he’s good but he’s not going to live forever. So who is in the running to take over from him?
Well, if Steve Maclaren was still at Boro – where, it seems, he probably should have stayed – we think he’d be right up there. If Roy Keane had a few more years under his managerial belt, he’d be a good outside bet. Steve Bruce, too, is a good manager, though we doubt he has pedigree enough for the humbly titled Theatre Of Dreams?
What about Mark Hughes? Alan Hansen has him top of his list and few would exclude the phlegmatic yet fiery Welshman from their shortlist.
But what about another United Old Boy – Steve Coppell? We believe the thinking man’s football manager is an absolute shoe-in.
Who would you want as the next Man U manager?
