Ferdinand set to return for United

Manchester United have been given a major boost ahead of their Champions League semi-final second leg against Arsenal at the Emirates tomorrow night with the news that Rio Ferdinand is set to return from injury.

The England defender cracked his ribs in training last week after an accidental collision with United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar. Ferdinand spent the night in hospital but scans revealed that the 30-year-old hadn't suffered any serious injury.

United go into the game 1-0 up from the first leg, but Sir Alex Ferguson will be hoping that Ferdinand can partner Nemanja Vidic at the heart of his team's defence and guide the Red Devils to their second successive Champions League final.
