Fallout from the scuffle between Evra and Chelsea staff

The fallout from the scuffle between Patrice Evra and Chelsea groundstaff following the London club's 2-1 on Saturday looks set to continue. It has been widely reported that Evra was racially abused by Chelsea groundsman Sam Bethell, although Bethell claims to have called the player a 'f*****g idiot' and not 'f*****g immigrant', as earlier reported.

United's players have been accused of breaking Premier League rules on warm-downs by running across the penalty areas at Stamford Bridge leading to the fisticuffs between the ground staff and the Premiership stars.

It is alleged that the United players Gary Neville, Evra, Paul Scholes, John O'Shea, Park Ji-Sung and Gerard Pique were asked to run up and down the pitch by the Chelsea ground staff but the scuffle broke out when Neville insisted on their right to run across the penalty area.

Evra was alleged to have thrown a punch at Chelsea groundsman Sam Bethell, but after watching the video it's all a bit tame really and Evra's punch is one of the worst attempts to clock anyone seen in a long time. Hopefully the video footage of Rio Ferdinand kicking a female steward in the tunnel, after confusing her for a wall of all things, will live up to the hype.
