Fabio Capello criticises Wayne Rooney

Fabio Capello is clearly not very happy with Wayne Rooney: the Manchester United striker was sent off in England's 2-2 with Montenegro, and with the ten-men subsequently throwing away a two-goal lead, the Italian had some harsh words to say.

England will now have to prepare a team without their best player, whose red card for violent conduct could see him miss two games in Euro 2012, and Capello has said that he will not start the next few games for England, as he needs to prepare a team that will be ready for the start of the tournament. With a friendly against world champions Spain coming up, that's something England could do without having to deal with.

'Without the sending-off of Rooney we would have won,' the manager said. 'Sometimes he will come on at half-time. But not from the start; he will not start. We need to prepare the first XI who will start in the Euros. He will be fresh.

'I have got a lot of forwards at this moment, really good forwards. In my life as a manager I have put on the bench a lot of players.'
