Everton break club record to sign Fellaini
Everton have paid a club record fee of £15m to bring Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini to Goodison Park. The 20-year-old has joined the Toffees from Standard Liège on a five-year contract. He will be expected to add some steel to Everton's midfield following the departure of Lee Carsley.
The capture of Fellaini late last night and Louis Saha from Manchester United last week has helped to ease the frustration of Everton boss David Moyes after he lost out on transfer targets Joao Moutinho and Stéphane M'Bia due to a lack of funds.
Elsewhere Liverpool bought Spanish winger Albert Riera from Espanyol with Steve Finnan moving in the opposite direction, while Spurs confirmed the signing of Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko and Croatian defender Vedran Corluka.
