Everton beat AEK Athens 4-0

Everton earned a much-needed victory in the Europa League just hours after signing former Blackburn and West Ham defender Lucas Neill on a free transfer.

The Toffees have endured a terrible start to the Premier League season losing their first three matches and manager David Moyes will be hoping that the 4-0 win over AEK Athens can kick start the Liverpool club's season.

Joseph Yobo, Sylvain Distin and Steven Pienaar all got on the score sheet before half time while Jo added a fourth goal after the break in a game which Everton dominated from start to finish. But the game ended on a bum note for the Toffees when Louis Saha was sent off for kicking out at Juanfran.

New signing Diniyar Bilyaletdinov made his Everton debut and the Russian midfielder was giving a standing ovation by the Goodison Park faithful after having a hand in his new club's first three goals.
