England slip down Fifa ranking to 15th

England have slipped down the Fifa ranking to 15th place, just one ahead of Scotland. The list doesn't make easy reading for England fans with Fabio Capello's team lying behind Romania and Cameroon.

Euro 2008 winners Spain are still on top after beating Denmark 3-0 in their recent friendly. World Cup winners Italy have moved into second place despite only drawing 2-2 with Austria in a recent friendly.

While England's current Fifa ranking won't matter a damn if Fabio Capello leads the team to South Africa in 2012, the fact that next week's rivals Croatia are in fifth place illustrates the difficulty of the task at hand. Northern Ireland are in 32nd place, Wales in 53rd and the Republic of Ireland 38th.
