England beat Ukraine 2-1 at Wembley last night thanks to a 85th minute winner from captain John Terry. The win goal kept Fabio Capello's 100% record of victories in qualification for South Africa intact.
Peter Crouch put England ahead on 29 minutes when he volleyed home a Steven Gerrard header. But former Chelsea misfit Andrei Shevchenko came off the bench to equalize for Ukraine on 75 minutes.
England, however, had the last laugh with David Beckham once again proving why he is so valuable to Capello's squad. The 33-year-old came off the bench to win his 110th cap and swung in the free-kick which led to England's winner.
