Martin Johnson's reign as England coach got off to a winning start with a 39-13 win over the Pacific Islands at Twickenham yesterday afternoon. The home side's set pieces proved the difference in an entertaining game.
Danny Cipriani scored 19 of England's 39 points but the Wasps' No.10 had something of a mixed day, gifting a try to Seru Rabeni in the first half. Winger Paul Sackey scored two good tries with débutante Delon Armitage also having a great game which saw him scoop the man of the match award.
The win and performance will have made Johnson and his coaching staff happy, but next week's match against Australia will provide a sterner test of England's exciting yet inexperienced side.
