England bounced back from Friday's embarrassing defeat to Holland in the Twenty20 World Cup with a convincing victory over Pakistan at the Oval. Kevin Pietersen was the hero on the night with a brilliant 58 from 38 balls.
The former England captain missed Friday's humiliating performance with an Achilles problem but inspired his team to victory in a must win game this afternoon, scoring five fours and three sixes. England batted first and thanks to Pietersen's excellent showing they racked up 185 for five.
Luke Wright got England off to a cracking start with scoring 34 runs off 16 balls. Pakistan, in contrast, put in a lacklustre performance, were guilty of some sloppy fielding and crumbled under the pressure of England's bowling.
The result leaves England on two points and with a superior run rate compared to both Holland and Pakistan who meet each other on Tuesday.
