England beat Kazakhstan 5-1 at Wembley thanks to a second half brace from Wayne Rooney, but made life difficult for themselves against a team ranked 101st in the world.
The first half finished 0-0 and was a dull affair with no chances created by either side. Kazakhstan went close to opening the scoring before skipper Rio Ferdinand headed England in front.
Gerrard and Lampard were paired in midfield, but again failed to convince. Shaun Wright Phillips replaced Gareth Barry at half time, Rooney was switched to the centre and England started to make inroads.
While the performance wasn't totally convincing, Capello has now delivered nine points from three games and eleven goals to boot. It's difficult to criticise that record.
