England awarded 2015 Rugby Union World Cup
England was awarded the 2015 Rugby Union World Cup by the International Rugby Board this afternoon. Japan has been awarded the 2019 tournament as the IRB looks to break new ground in Asia.
The 2015 World Cup will run from September 4 until October 17 with the final to be played at Twickenham. The remaining games will be played in 12 stadiums across 10 different cities including Wembley, Old Trafford, the Emirates, Anfield and the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
England last hosted the Rugby World Cup back in 1991 when Will Carling's side narrowly lost the final to a Michael Lynagh inspired Australia. The tournament will boost the British economy by an estimated £2.1bn.
