England 2 Hungary 1

England beat Hungary 2-1 at Wembley this evening in what was their first match since the demoralizing 4-1 loss to Germany at the World Cup in June.

Fabio Capello handed international debuts to Kieran Gibbs, Bobby Zamora, Michael Dawson and Jack Wilshire in the second half as he looked to blood some new players ahead of the Euro 2012 qualifiers.

However, it was an error from Spurs defender Dawson which allowed Hungary to open the scoring on 62 minutes. The centre-back dived into a tackle allowing Zoltan Gera to shoot before the ball ricocheted off Phil Jagielka and past Joe Hart.

Just when it looked like it would be another night for the boo boys Steven Gerrard bagged an excellent brace of goals to give England the win. The first was a trademark long range screamer after a good run from left back Gibbs while the second was a piece of brilliant individual skill following a layoff from Ashley Young.
