Emad Rida wonder goal earns Iraq win over Australia
Iraq earned a famous victory over Australia in their World Cup qualifier in Dubai on Saturday. The 2007 Asian Champions had been suspended from the competition by Fifa after the Iraqi authorities dissolved the the National Olympic Committee but the ban was overturned at the last minute.
Emad Rida was the hero for Iraq catching Australia's keeper Mark Schwarzer off his line with a stunning curling shot from 30-yards. The goal gave Iraq their first win in the qualifying campaign against a much fancied Australian team featuring Harry Kewell, Vincent Grella and Brett Emerton.
The Iraqi team, which is made up of Kurds, Shiites and Sunnis, are currently lying behind Qatar and Australia in their qualifying group. They'll be be hoping that Saturday's win can kick start their qualifying campaign for South Africa 2010.Iraq 1 Australia 0
