Elton? Can I have your autograph?

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has a good reason to be happy with Chelsea’s FA Cup third round draw at home to Watford. Not only have the Premier League table-toppers got a relatively comfortable home draw against a lower league side, it gives the Italian a rare chance to meet his favourite pop star – Elton John.

The pop legend has been involved with his local football team for decades, and was famously chairman of the Hertfordshire side. Ancelotti clearly knows nothing about lower league English football, so hooray for Elton, saving the newcomer’s blushes.

‘I do not know Watford very well at the moment but I will have the opportunity to learn about them,’ said Ancelotti. ‘The owner of Watford many years ago was Elton John. Elton John is my favourite singer. The match will be an opportunity to meet Elton John.’

Elsewhere, there could be a very tasty clash between historic rivals Manchester United and Leeds United, if the Yorkshire side can squeeze past Kettering in their second round replay, and a feisty London derby between West Ham and Arsenal looks quite interesting too, as does Bristol City v Cardiff City.
