Eidur Gudjohnsen close to West Ham move

Eidur Gudjohnsen looks set to be reunited with his former teammate Gianfranco Zola at West Ham. The Icelandic international is believed to be close to putting pen to paper on deal which will see him swap Monaco and Ligue 1 for London and the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur were reported to be interested in signing Gudjohnsen, however, how it appears that the 32-year-old will join The Hammers. Although the former Chelsea striker is available on a free transfer he could be set to earn £50,000 per week underlining the intent of West Ham's new owners David Sullivan and David Gold.

Gudjohnsen will be the second new forward to arrive at Upton Park during the current transfer window with South Africa striker Benni McCarthy expected to join West Ham from Blackburn Rovers for a fee of £2.5m.
