Defoe inspires Spurs to 5-1 win over Hull
Jermain Defoe scored a brilliant hat-trick last night to fire Spurs to the top of the Premier League. The London side hammered Hull 5-1 last night at the KC Stadium in a pulsating performance.
Tottenham played some brilliant football and opened the scoring after just ten minutes through Defoe. The striker continued his good run of form with a clinical strike from a Tom Huddlestone past.
Just four minutes later Robbie Keane set up midfielder Wilson Palacios to score his first goal in English football. Stephen Hunt pulled a goal back for Hull with a free-kick, but it was a false dawn for the home side.
Defoe restored Spurs two goal cushion with a his second of the night following a neat flick from Keane. The Tottenham captain got in on the act with a glancing header before Defoe finished the rout and sealed his hat-trick with a screamer from the edge of the area.
