France secured their place in the semi-final with a 4-1 victory over Germany to set up a tie with Spain in September. In the other half of the draw, Argentina comfortably beat Kazakhstan 5-0 to ensure they would meet Serbia in Belgrade this September. Serbia's 4-1 victory over Sweden saw world number one Novak Djokovic feature in a rare occasion and led his team to victory and keep their hopes of winning the competition alive.
