Sussex Vs Yorkshire: Cricket results today

The cricket results today included the game between the Sussex Sharks and Yorkshire Carnegie at Hove which ended up with Sussex securing victory by 76 runs.

Sussex won the toss and elected to bat, a decision that proved crucial to the games play as the home side went on to post an impressive score of 246. Chris Nash got his side off to great start hitting 79 from 84 balls including eight fours and one six. Young wicket-keeper Ben Brown also played an outstanding innings with an unbeaten half-century off just 30 balls to steer his side to a competitive total. The stand out bowlers from Yorkshire were hot prospect Adil Rashid who picked up two wickets as did Wainwright in his eight over spell.

Yorkshire's innings started poorly with Andrew Gale being trapped LBW by Arif for a duck, Jacques Rudolph and Jonathan Bairstow offered some resistance to the Sussex onslaught but the superb bowling from former England one day international player Michael Yardy saw the Sussex side end up comfortable winners and edge closer to securing qualification from group A. Yardy finished up with figures of 4 wickets from 3.3 overs conceding just 10 runs.

The win means that Sussex have a lead of two points at the top of group A after 7 games whilst Yorkshire's campaign hasn't been quite as successful and are rooted to 5th position of the group after winning just twice in seven attempts. Sussex will travel to Amstelveen on Saturday where they will take on a Netherlands side who will be looking to build on their victory against Kent last time they played.

The teams lined up as shown below:

Sussex: Joyce, Nash, Vincent, Goodwin, Yardy (C), Wells, Brown (WK), Naved, Arif, Liddle, Panesar

Yorkshire: Gale (C), Rudolph, Lyth, Sayers, Ballance, Bairstow (WK), Shahzad, Pyrah, Rashid, Wainwright, Sidebottom
