The FA Cup final was played on 14th May 2011 at Wembley Stadium. The teams under the spotlight this year were Premier League clubs Manchester City and underdogs Stoke City. The 2011 FA Cup final was the 130th final of the FA Cup making it the world's oldest domestic football competition. The winners of the match would also book their place in the 2011 Community Shield against Manchester United.

Manchester City had beaten Leicester City, Notts County, Aston Villa, Reading and Manchester United on their way to Wembley whilst Stoke City had had victories against Cardiff City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Brighton and Hove Albion, West Ham United and Bolton Wanderers on their route to the final.

Football club Wembley FA Cup tickets for the first time topped the £100 mark this year. The most expensive ticket cost fans £115 which was an increase of 22 per cent on the previous season. The cheapest tickets started at £45 which was an increase of £5 from 2010 ticket prices. The clubs were each allocated around 25,000 tickets which enabled all 21,000 Stoke City season ticket holders to nab a ticket but not sufficient for the 36,000 Manchester City season ticket holders who had to try to buy them from other outlets.

Although Stoke City fans put their hearts and souls into cheering on their players, Manchester City emerged the victors with a final score of 1-0, scored by midfielder Yaya Toure. This gave Manchester City their fifth FA Cup triumph.
