City bid £25m for Diego to keep Robinho happy

Manchester City are reported to be lining up a £25m bid for Werder Bremen and Brazil midfielder Diego in an attempt to keep Robinho happy. The two were former team-mates at the Brazilian club Santos.

The news comes in the wake of the epic failure of City's Kaka bid and Robinho's subsequent decision to throw his toys out of the pram and head back to Brazil. The News of the World reports that Mark Hughes is now trying to bring Diego to Eastlands in a deal said to be worth over £180,000 per week for the Brazilian.

Diego has been linked with a move to Juventus, but he may find it difficult to turn down the wages that City are offering. But signing the Brazilian could be more trouble than it's worth. Despite his undoubted ability, the 23-year-old has a reputation for hell-raising and ill-discipline, neither of which City need at this point of the season.
