City bid £17m for Aleksandar Kolarov

Manchester City look set to continue their summer spending spree after Lazio accepted a £17m bid for Serbia defender Aleksandar Kolarov.

The 24-year-old attacking left-back is known for his powerful shot and dead ball ability and will replace Wayne Bridge in a new look back four alongside German international Jerome Boateng.

Bridge has failed to convince City boss Roberto Mancini and it appears that he will be relegated to the bench if the Premier League’s big spenders finalise the deal for Kolarov.

Real Madrid, Juventus and Internazionale have also been sniffing around the Serbia international but Kolarov looks set to join City despite the fact that the club will not be in this year’s Champions League.

If he decides to move to Eastlands Kolarov will link up fellow new signings David Silva, Yaya Touré and Jerome Boateng bringing the club’s summer spending to £80m and counting.
