City bid £15m for Lescott

Manchester City look set to continue their summer spending spree after making a £15m bid for Everton defender Joleon Lescott.

The England defender has become an integral part of the Toffees' defence since joining the club from Wolves back in 2006 and Everton manager David Moyes will be desperate to hold onto the 26-year-old.

While the Liverpool side insist that none of their first team players are for sale City are reported to be offering Lescott a deal which would see him double his current weekly wage of £40,000 which could tempt the versatile defender to push for a transfer to Eastlands.

Big spenders City have already signed Roque Santa Cruz from Blackburn Rovers for a fee of £17m and could also be set to capture Carlos Tevez from rivals United when his current contract at Old Trafford expires on June 30.
