Chelsea sack manager Scolari

Chelsea have sacked manager Luiz Felipe Scolari just seven months after the Brazilian was handed the reins at Stamford Bridge. Big Phil's Chelsea have dropped to fourth place in the Premier League winning just six times at home, and Saturday's 0-0 draw sealed the World Cup winning manager's fate.

Speculation has already started as to who will replace Scolari as the Blue's fifth manager in the last five years. Frank Rijkaard and Roberto Mancini have both been mentioned, while Roman Abramovich is reported to want to bring in the current Russia manager Guus Hiddink.

Big Phil took over from Avram Grant at the end of Euro 2008 on a two-year contract, but leaks from within the Chelsea dressing room seem to suggest that many of the players had grown disillusioned with the Brazilian's coaching style as well as his training methods. It seems that the transition from international to club management was a bridge too far for Scolari.
